I also think this is very important. Besides tractability, one of the strongest arguments against working on it is that wealthy countries do not stay autocratic for long. I'm not an expert, though, but took one of Treisman's classes in which we discussed this a bit.
What happened to the Global Priorities Institute? Given that they published an updated research agenda ~8mo ago, seems somewhat abrupt.

I also think folks should carefully consider the disutility of autocracy by Trump/MAGA in particular. I updated my estimate of the disutility upward heavily after the destruction of USAID, which I don't see being restored under a MAGA autocracy.
